Louis works on hardware all day long, and most of his discussions about bad engineering, Right to Repair, and manufacturers screwing customers seems to center around hardware: cameras being disabled, touch sensors being disabled, and so on. I think the focus needs to be taken off of the hardware side of this and placed where it really originates: in the software. You should own your copy of the software required to make a device function, not merely rent it. You should have unlimited rights to modify your copy. You should have the right to both access and replace your copy of all of this software that makes your $2,000 phone work, and manufacturers should be prohibited from locking you out of your own hardware.
